Celebrate Independence Day in 

Be sure to start your day with our  Patriotic Pet Parade at  800am, then come to our annual Flag Raising Ceremony at 10 AM as we honor our nation and kick off a festive day on the island.  At noon, gather along the waterfront for the beloved Patriotic Boat Parade as beautifully decorated boats show off their patriotic. Stay for an unforgettable evening and enjoy one of the area’s most spectacular fireworks displays . More in

Sharkfest

July 11, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Calvert Marine Museum

Celebrate all things shark, all day, at CMM! Live sharks will be featured in the museum for viewing. Learn fascinating ‘sharktoids’, examine evidence of prehistoric sharks, and take a picture in the life-size jaws of a Megalodon shark. Included with museum admission. Advanced tickets recommended. The Patuxent Pursuit 

July 17–19, 2026, 

An exciting weekend of sailboat racing and waterfront fun to the Patuxent River. Hosted by the Southern Maryland Sailing Association (SMSA), the event features a Friday distance pursuit race followed by a variety of racing options on Saturday and Sunday, including windward/leeward buoy racing and pursuit races for navigators and cruisers. Solomons Dragon Boat Festival

Pirate Day

Ahoy Scallywags! Throw on your best pirate outfit and head to the museum for some jolly good fun. Make a pirate craft, build a toy pirate boat, get a pirate tattoo, and walk the plank! Sing pirate songs at 12:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Included with museum admission. Calendar • Pirate Day!

Kids Pirate Cruise, Arrgh!

Celebrate Pirate Day at the museum and take a cruise onboard the pirate vessel BLACK PEARL (aka, the Wm B Tennison)! Dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate, and follow the treasure map!
